Why? A pro life discussion

After the reversal of Roe Vs Wade there has been some support, but it has been heavily criticized (understatement) for the most part.

The one thing that has come up most on the pro choice side, including sadly some Catholics, is this: the supreme court and all pro lifers are trying to curtail women's rights. They are trying to oppress women because they are bigoted tyrants.

I have a simple answer to that: why?

Why would men and women want to take away a woman's right to have an abortion? Because they want to rebirth an oppressive patriarchy by making women give birth? That sounds unlikely.

Why would women want to go through the annoyance and pain of pregnancy and birth when they don't even want the baby? Why would men want to be induced to pay money for the child's upkeep when they don't want the baby? Honestly, why would someone want to stop abortion? If you think about it, there doesn't seem to be a practical reason for it. Certainly not for women, but also for men.

Then why is the pro life movement a thing? At least 39% of Americans call themselves pro life. Why so many?

It honestly couldn't be for a selfish reason, for practicality or any other good reason. Why go to all that bother? It doesn't benefit them in any way.

Why?

Because they care about those babies who die everyday. They care about innocent lives. Every life is precious. That is what we believe, that is what we fight for.

Every life is precious.

I have lots of younger siblings, I have one right now who is seven months, and although he takes a lot of work, he is wonderful, and his smile is the most beautiful thing in the world. We have to keep that in sight as we fight for them. So we stay focused, but also so that we stay charitable and remember that we fight for love so we fight with it.
