Welcome to Illuminated By Joy! + Introduction to Bl Pier Giorgio Frassati

Hello everyone and welcome to Illuminated By Joy!

I hope you find that this blog will be an informative and fun resource for Catholic teenagers.

I started this blog to help Catholic teens

.Grow in their faith

.Navigate an increasingly anti-Catholic world

.Find resources aimed at Catholic teenagers

.Create a space where they can meet others like them and have fun together.

But most of all this blog was started to help teens be good and heroic Catholics while they are in their teen years.

So what kinds of posts will there be? I plan on a good mix of serious and fun discussions. There will be theological rambles, book and movie reviews, tips, encouragement, commentary on recent events, and whatever else you can think of!

This blog is called Illuminated by Joy from a wonderful quote by Bl Pier Giorgio Frassati:

The end for which we are created invites us to walk a road that is surely sown with a lot of thorns, but it is not sad; through even the sorrow, it is illuminated by joy.

Bl Pier Giorgio was born 6th of April 1901, and died when he was only 24.

He was a faithful and passionate Catholic all his life, and his special mission was to help the poor and sick.  He came from a rich family and his father was a senator and ran a large newspaper. His mother was a talented painter.  Pier Giorgio's family was not a strongly Catholic one, and his devotion to his faith was frowned upon. He dedicated his life to helping the poor and oppressed despite his high social status. He was a keen athlete and loved mountain climbing. He had a particular devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and received Communion every day.

His life was way too inspiring and full for me to describe it here, so I strongly advice you to check out this site which has great resources on him: Frassatiusa.org

His life has been so inspiring to me and he has helped me in so many ways, and he can for you too!

Anyway, God Bless, until next time!
